A toast to Autumn: cosy nights with Italian wines

As the landscape starts to change, a magical transformation takes place in Ireland.

Summer greens linger, the remaining purple heather adds a touch of whimsy, and the first hints of autumn colors peek through. It’s definitely a season that begs for cozy nights in, curled up with a good book and a glass of something comforting.

Speaking of which, what could be more comforting than a taste of Italy? September and October are prime grape-harvesting months in Italy: imagine yourself strolling through sun-drenched vineyards, breathing in the intoxicating aroma of ripe grapes, and experiencing the magic of winemaking firsthand.

Bring a touch of that magic into your Irish autumn with these exceptional Italian wines:

1. Chianti Classico Riserva “La Mirandola” D.O.C.G: this iconic Tuscan red, a blend of Sangiovese and Colorino, is perennial favourite. Aged for at least 30 months after the vintage and then further 3 months in bottle, it offers a complex profile with earthy lime, leather, and raspberries traces. Its balanced acidity and notes of ripe cherry make it a versatile companion to a variety of dishes, from grilled meats to hearty pasta.

2. Pietrantonj Montepulciano D’Abruzzo Riserva “Cerano” D.O.C.: coming from the Abruzzo region, this full-bodied red boasts a rich, velvety texture and a symphony of dark fruit flavours. On the nose, you’ll find rich aromas of wild berry fruit and subtle notes of vanilla. Smooth and warm in the mouth, it features superb structure, delicate balance, long-lingering aromas.

3. Terlano Chardonnay D.O.C.: our lighter, refreshing choice, from the Trentino-Alto Adige region. The aroma of this Terlano Chardonnay releases exotic fruity impressions with nuances of banana, quince, passion fruit, mango, and sugar melon, plus a hint of lemon balm. A touch of pear gives the Terlano Chardonnay a mouthfeel that is very soft and harmonious.
